    About Typing Speed Test

Measure your typing speed with a timed passage and see how accurately you type. Choose common words or complete sentences in English or Bahasa Indonesia, then practice for 15, 30, 60, or 120 seconds. The countdown starts with your first typed character, so you can read the passage and settle your hands before beginning. Correct characters, mistakes, and the next position are marked in the passage as you type. Your completed results stay in this browser, letting you compare repeat attempts with the same language, mode, and duration. A daily challenge gives you a fixed 60-second word passage for each local calendar date and language. No account, typing API, or online leaderboard is involved.

How to Use Typing Speed Test

    1

Choose a language and practice mode

Select English or Bahasa Indonesia. Common words uses lowercase words without punctuation. Sentences adds capitals, commas, and full stops to make the exercise closer to everyday writing. Pick a duration from 15 to 120 seconds. Daily challenge fixes the duration at 60 seconds and keeps the same passage for the selected language throughout your local day.

    2

    Start typing the displayed text

Click Start typing or the input field and type the passage from the beginning. The timer does not start from focusing the field or clicking the button. Match every space, capital, and punctuation mark. Paste, drag and drop, and automatic replacement are blocked in the input field. Backspace and normal text selection remain available so you can correct mistakes.

    3

    Read your speed and accuracy

WPM, accuracy, remaining time, and error count update during the test. The countdown continues while another tab is active and ends at the original deadline even when the browser delays background timers. A correct complete passage can finish a test early; that result uses the actual elapsed time. Restart abandons an unfinished attempt without adding it to your history.

    4

    Compare results and practice again

At completion, review your WPM, raw speed, correct characters, and errors. Try again repeats the same text, while New text generates another practice passage outside daily mode. Your progress panel compares only matching tests and charts the last 10 of those results. Export CSV saves all retained results with timestamps. Copy result gives you a short text summary to share.

Why Use Typing Speed Test: Common Use Cases

    Build a repeatable keyboard routine

Use a one-minute common-word test before a writing session to get comfortable with the keyboard. Repeat the same mode, duration, and language so your personal best and recent average remain comparable. If you want to plan a longer practice block, set a session in the Pomodoro Timer and return here for short, focused rounds.

    Practice everyday sentence typing

Sentence mode asks you to type complete passages rather than isolated lowercase words. It includes capitalization and punctuation, which may lower your speed compared with word-only practice. Aim to maintain accuracy before chasing a faster result. Write your practice notes in the Online Notepad and record which combinations of keys felt difficult.

    Track English or Indonesian progress

Switch between English and Bahasa Indonesia to practice familiar words or a different language. Results are kept separately when the language, mode, or duration changes. Download a CSV before clearing browser data or moving devices. The history is a personal practice record, not a certified employment test, identity check, or independent assessment of typing ability.

    Tips for Typing Speed Test

    • WPM uses five characters as a standard word, including spaces. It is not a count of actual dictionary words. Use Word Counter when you need the word count of a written document instead.

    • Correcting a mistake improves the current text but does not remove the original incorrect attempt from accuracy. That makes repeated backspacing visible in your final result.

    • Focus view hides the sidebar, related tools, guide, and history while keeping test controls and the completion result available. Press Escape or Exit focus view to restore the normal page.

    • The daily streak counts consecutive local dates with a completed daily challenge. Multiple attempts on the same date count as one day. Only the last 100 results are retained, so clearing or replacing older history can shorten the visible streak.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is typing speed in WPM calculated?

The test divides the number of currently correct characters by five, then divides by elapsed minutes. Spaces and punctuation count as characters. Raw WPM uses all characters remaining in the input, including incorrect ones. For a timed test, elapsed time is the selected duration; finishing the complete correct passage early uses the actual elapsed time. Other typing sites may use different scoring rules.

Does Backspace improve my accuracy score?

Backspace lets you repair the text, but it does not undo an incorrect attempt. Accuracy is correct inserted characters divided by all inserted characters during that attempt. An error corrected later still appears in the error count. The WPM calculation uses correct characters in the current text, so repairing an error can increase WPM while leaving accuracy below 100 percent.

What changes in the daily typing challenge?

Each local calendar date and language has a repeatable common-word passage and a fixed 60-second duration. You can retry it during the day and the words stay the same. The next local date produces another passage. Finish a challenge to count that date toward your streak; restarting an unfinished challenge does not count. There is no shared ranking or server-side competition.

Are typed text and results sent to a server?

The test scores input in your browser and does not upload typed text or results. It saves settings and up to 100 completed result records in local browser storage, without saving the input text. This is not account storage or cross-device sync. If browser storage is blocked, the test displays a notice and keeps working for the current page session.

Can I use this test on a phone or with a different keyboard?

Yes. The input uses a regular text field and the layout adapts to small screens, so an on-screen or physical keyboard can be used. Autocorrect, spellcheck, and automatic capitalization are requested off, although keyboard software may behave differently. Compare results only under similar conditions; a phone keyboard and a desktop keyboard measure different practical typing tasks.

How do I save, share, or remove my typing history?

Completed attempts are saved automatically when browser storage is available. Export CSV downloads the retained results, and Copy result copies the most recent completion summary with the tool link. Clear history asks for confirmation and removes result records without changing your current settings or practice passage. Clearing site data in your browser also removes this local history.
