Estimate API spend from text length.

$0cheapest listed
$0mid tier

Model Input $/1M Output $/1M Per request Per day Per 30 days

List prices in USD per 1M tokens, checked October 2026 against each provider's pricing page. Every rate is editable: change it to your negotiated or reseller rate and the table recalculates. Reload restores the defaults. Monthly totals assume 30 days and do not include cached-input discounts or batch pricing.

About AI Cost & Token Calculator

AI Cost & Token Calculator estimates what a workload costs across model providers before you commit to one. Paste a prompt and it estimates tokens from character count; set output tokens and requests per day, and the table computes cost per request, per day, and per 30 days for a set of list-price models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Every rate is an editable field, so negotiated pricing, reseller markup, or a model the defaults do not cover can be typed straight into the row. All math runs in your browser; nothing about your usage leaves the page.

How to Use AI Cost & Token Calculator

1

Estimate your input tokens

Paste a representative prompt into the top field. The estimate line shows characters, words, and rough tokens, and fills Input tokens per request automatically. You can also type the number directly.

2

Set output and volume

Enter Output tokens per request and Requests per day. Be honest about output length; it usually dominates the bill.

3

Compare the table

Each model row shows Per request, Per day, and Per 30 days. The three cards above highlight the cheapest, mid, and most expensive listed models for your workload.

4

Adjust rates to your reality

Click any Input $/1M or Output $/1M cell and type your real rate, or rename the Custom row for a model we do not list. The table recalculates as you type; reload restores defaults.

Why Use AI Cost & Token Calculator: Common Use Cases

Choosing between providers

The same workload can differ by an order of magnitude across models. Three numbers per row make the tradeoff visible in seconds.

Budgeting a feature before building it

Requests per day times per-request cost is the monthly line item your finance review will ask for. Have it before the first deploy.

Pricing an AI-powered product

Model the per-user cost by dividing requests per day by users, then check it against your margin before quoting a price.

Deciding when cleanup pays off

Trim prompts with Code to Prompt Converter, re-paste the trimmed version, and watch the monthly estimate drop.

Tips for AI Cost & Token Calculator

  • The token estimate divides characters by four, which is close for English. For Indonesian and other languages, expect more tokens per character and type the number from your provider's tokenizer when precision matters.

  • Cached input and batch APIs can halve real bills. The table shows standard list rates only, so treat its totals as an upper bound.

  • Rename the Custom row to your reseller's model and rates when you buy access through a platform.

  • Count tokens of the exact payload you send, system prompt included; build it with System Prompt Generator first.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the default prices?

They are standard list prices in USD per 1M tokens, checked in October 2026 against each provider's public pricing page. Providers change prices and introduce models frequently, so verify before signing a budget, and edit any cell that differs from your agreement.

How are tokens estimated from my text?

Character count divided by four, the common approximation for English. It fills the input token field automatically, but you can type over it with the exact count from your provider's tokenizer or usage dashboard.

Why does output pricing matter more than input?

Output tokens cost several times more than input tokens at every provider, and generated text tends to be long. A workload with modest prompts and verbose answers is dominated by the output column.

Does the monthly total include free tiers or discounts?

No. It multiplies your per-request cost by requests per day by 30, at the rates shown in the table. Free-tier allowances, prompt caching, and batch discounts all reduce real spend below these numbers.

Can I add a model that is not in the table?

Yes. The last row is a Custom model with an editable name and rates. Type its published prices and the row computes like the others.

Is my usage data collected?

No. The calculator is plain JavaScript in your browser. Prompts, volumes, and edited rates never leave your device.
